While the guests mingled at the cocktail hour
Before we knew it, it was time for our first dance. "Our Year" by the Zombies.
"The warmth of your love's like the warmth of the sun."
"And this will be our year, took a long time to come."
That was followed directly by the Hora. I recommend this Jewish folk dance for every party. 75% of our guests had never heard it before, but everyone got into it. Even at 5:30 in the afternoon.
Our ceremony started at 4pm. The cocktail hour ended at 5:30. I thought serving dinner before 6:30 was a little early, which left me about an hour to fill. I figured we might as well get the dancing started. But I was really nervous about it. Would people dance in broad daylight? Well, I think these pictures say it all.
Pretty soon it was dinner time.

Our parents toasted us.
And in between courses, my usually reserved new husband got up to surprise me with the most thoughtful and funny toast I've ever heard.
I absolutely loved it.
And our guests did too.
Right after dinner we cut the cake.
And then danced with our parents to "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong
And everyone joined in.
Kids played.
Friends reminisced at what they would later call the "wall of shame."
Once the sun started to set.
The party started to look a little something like this.
I don't even know where the guitars came from.
The DJ's final announcement caused the most buzz. And people still haven't stopped talking about it. He let everyone know that In-N-Out burgers had arrived on the scene. People went crazy over these burgers that we had delivered from the local In-N-Out. I was worried it wouldn't work out, and that the burgers would be cold, but people LOVED them. I firmly believe no one should visit California without tasting an In-N-Out burger, so I couldn't let all of my East Coast guests go home without trying one.

Without bartenders or a DJ we were left to our own devices until the early hours of the morning.

And we were satisfied and very, very happy as the beginning of our beginning came to a close.
